Bhairon Temple

Bhairon Temple is located at a distance of 1.42 km from the Bhawan. The temple is situated at the highest point of the adjacent hill at an altitude of 6,619 ft. This temple also involves a steep climb which can be undertaken by foot, ponies or palanquins. It is believed that the journey to Mata Vaishno Devi is not complete without the darshan in Bhairon Temple. According to the legends, Bhairon Nath was killed by Vaishno Devi and while seeking an apology, was given a boon of being the last link of the pilgrimage.Darshan inside Bhairon Temple is also in the rock form. It is believed that when Mata killed Bhairon Nath, his head fell at this place while his body remained at the entrance of the holy cave. There is also a Havan Kund at the temple, whose ashes are considered to be sacred.

Himkoti

The spot is very clean and beautiful and offers you the panoramic view of the valley. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple Board has developed a new route via Himkoti to the holy cave. The route is 0.5 km shorter than the other route to the cave, and hence pilgrims prefer it the most. Also, the way is less steep and has no rush of horses. This place offers the devotees enough space to relax rest and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lush green valley. One should start the yatra to the temple during the day time rather than nights. Himkoti is being developed more as the Shrine Board is renovating the site with picturesque gardens, an artificial lake, and a meditation center. The restaurants and dosa counters are constructed here which offer packed as well as cooked food including meals, cold and hot beverages. Other facilities like oxygen cylinders, medical care, and cassettes are also availed here. On the way to Himkoti, you can join the other pilgrims who are on their journey to seek the blessings of the Goddess.

Darshani Darwaza

Darshani Darwaza or Darshani Deodhi, situated 2,800 ft above sea level, is the entry gate to the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra. Located about 1 km from the bus stand, it is from this point that tourists can have a complete view of the Trikuta mountain. As per the legends, Mata Vaishno Devi met Pandit Sridhar at this point in the form of a girl child.

SHALIMAR GARDEN

Shalimar Garden or Shalimar Bagh in Srinagar is the largest Mughal garden in Kashmir valley built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in the year 1619 AD for his wife Empress Nur Jahan. The term Shalimar comes from Sanskrit language which means “Adobe of Love”. This famous garden in sited on the right banks of Dal Lake and the garden is also popularly called as Shalamar garden or Bagh, Faiz Baksh and Farah Baksh. This garden is the outstanding example of Mughals in the field of horticultural.The garden covers an enormous 31 acres plot along the Dal Lake. Shalimar Bagh is a typical Mughal garden with three terraces which follows a Persian garden layout on 31 acres of plot with 587 m of length and 251 m of depth. The garden is constructed on flat land close to Dal Lake with a rectangular central layout with four radiating arms. Shah Nahar is the main water channel in Shalimar which runs from the higher or top terraces to the lower or bottom terraces of the garden.

Jhajjar Kotli

Jhajjar Kotli is a tourist complex about 15 km from Katra, built at the banks of river Jhajjar. It is located on the National Highway 1A that leads towards Srinagar. The clear, cold water of Jhajjar is the main attraction. Jhajjar Kotli is a tourist picnic spot, which is known for its natural beauty.
